The concert will take place on Sunday, May 3 at 1pm at the Community Lutheran Church (3720 E. Tropicana Ave). The admission to the concert is free, but there will be a free-will offering taken to help the students make their financial goals to attend AIMS. AIMS is dedicated to providing training that bridges the transition between education and a career in music.

Phantom singers Joan Sobel, Megan Starr-Levitt, Marc Cedric Smith, and Stephen Price will perform, hoping to bring attention to these students and their efforts to advance their musical education. Lea Salonga at the UNLV Performing Arts Center

Friday, May 1 at 8pm
UNLV's Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall
"New York Stage and Beyond" Concert Series
Tickets: $80, $50, and $35
Call the box office at 702-895-ARTS

From a Review-Journal article...

...Climaxing the series will be theater dynamo Lea Salonga (May 1). "Oooh, Lea Salonga, I've been chasing her for four years," Henley [PAC's Artistic Director] says of Salonga, known for originating the lead role of Kim in "Miss Saigon" that earned her a Tony, being the first Asian to portray the pivotal supporting role of Eponine in "Les Miserables" on Broadway, and then switching to the role of Fantine for the show's revival. On film, Salonga lent her polished pipes to the singing parts of both Princess Jasmine in "Aladdin" and the title character in "Mulan."

"She still makes her home in the Philippines and other times she's doing Broadway, but she's touring the U.S. next year," Henley says. "We finally got lucky. She's absolutely phenomenal."

About the concert hall:
With comfortable seating for 1,832, excellent acoustics, great sightlines, and a spacious, beautifully decorated lobby with a gallery wall of fine art, Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall is a grand venue, the likes of which cannot be found anywhere else in Nevada.

The 30th Anniversary celebration on Wednesday was fabulous and it was announced that evening that the Liberace Museum collection will be going on tour! This is great news as the Liberace Foundation is a wonderful organization providing scholarships to students of the arts. The tour will surely raise awareness of this and help keep it going strong!

Over 1,000 guests visited the museum during the 12 hour event for which admission was only 30 cents.

Jerry Fink wrote an article in the Las Vegas Sun all about the day's events.

"...Some of the elite of Las Vegas entertainment used their artistry to pay homage to the man who may have been the catalyst for the glamour and glitz for which the city has become known. Among them were: Clint Holmes, Billy Fayne, Bob Rosario, Bob Sachs. Tommy Deering, Frankie Scinta, Lani Misalucha, Sonny Turner of the original Platters, Rebecca Spencer and Kristen Hertzenberg of “Phantom, the Las Vegas Spectacular,” Vicki Van Tassell of “Mamma Mia!”, Travis Cloer, Keith Thompson and Philip Fortenberry of “Jersey Boys.” Pianist Fortenberry is artist in residence at the Liberace Museum.

The spectacular evening of entertainment brought back memories of an older Las Vegas that so many wish would returned. It ended with the Bonos, Spencer and Thompson leading the 100 or so guests in “I’ll Be Seeing You,” Liberace’s theme song and the number that closed his shows."

Cardboard City - An AWESOME Opportunity to Give!

Would you be willing to give up your bed tonight if doing so would change someone's life? What if it could change yours? Homelessness is a situation. It is not a definition of people. Some homeless families find temporary shelter with friends or in weekly motels. Some sleep in their cars. Some have no choice but to sleep outside.

On Friday, May 1 from 5:30pm to 7am on Saturday morning, The Crossing Church parking lot will be home to Cardboard City, a one-night event to raise money and awareness for Family Promise of Las Vegas, a community-wide program that supports homeless families on their journey to a stable future.

Each participant is asked to get pledges of donations of at least $100, all of which will go to help people living in the homeless situation in Clark County. Cardboard City is open to people of all ages and affiliations. Service clubs, school groups, and youth organizations are encouraged to use this event as a learning and team-building activity. All entertainment and activity is family friendly and participants sleep in a secured outdoor area. Participants will bring their own cardboard boxes and blankets. Those who want to be a part of this event, but are unable to sleep outside are also welcomed to be virtual residents.

Phantom cast member Bruce Ewing is on the advisory board for Family Promise. He has put together a fantastic video about the event. To view it on youtube, click here:

For more information on how to participate, click here:

This event will be filmed for possible inclusion in a PBS documentary.
