Adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso from the book WORKING by Pulitzer Prize Winner Studs Terkel, this timely musical pays tribute to the spirit, hearts, and souls of America's citizens. WORKING weaves the story of America's common working wo/man revealing the hopes, emotions, passions, and the spirit of the working class striving for the piece of the American Dream. The production includes songs by Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Mary Rodgers and Susan Birkenhead, and James Taylor. Musical styles include R&B, rock, Broadway, and folk. The monologues and the lyrics to the songs are genuine, taken from Mr. Terkel's book of the views of the American worker. Honesty, responsibility, championship is conveyed by each character to the audience.

The show is wonderfully textured with all types of people, all types of characters, all types of opportunities for many people to shine—for singers and non-singers alike. This large, multi-ethnic ensemble cast of characters range in age from a nine year old boy to a retired gentleman.

VS. a rock cabaret

This Wednesday is the premiere performance of VS.! Hosted by Ali Spuck and Keely Vasquez, VS. is a unique chance for singers to perform songs they love to sing and for Vegas audiences to see the talent they love in an entirely different setting. It's not an open mic, nor a traditional cabaret. Backed by a rockin' house band featuring the best musicians in Las Vegas, it's a combination of a rock show and a cabaret showcasing talent from the biggest shows on the strip, visiting Broadway greats, and stars from TV/Film and the LA theatre scene.

Each show has a different theme that will showcase two different concepts, artists, shows, composers, etc. They'll pull from all genres of music—you never know what you'll get to see!

Fit for a King

The Lion King opened officially last night to a roaring ovation and a great review from Mike Weatherford in today's paper. The performance was followed by a fabulous party at MIX high atop The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, with Quincy Jones in attendance, as well as Tony and Emmy award winning and Oscar nominated director Julie Taymor and local celebrities Siegfried and Roy. But the real stars of the night were the absolutely gorgeous cast of The Lion King. Las Vegas is so lucky to have yet another amazingly talented group of people in town!

Carol Linnea Johnson and Don Burroughs

Cedar City, UT—Casting for this summer's Utah Shakespearean Festival production of Private Lives is putting a new twist on Noel Coward's most celebrated comedy: The actors playing the volatile couple, Elyot and Amanda, are, in fact, married in real life. Indeed, they met at the festival in 1996.

"Don and I have always talked about coming back to the Festival, but the time was never right," said Carol Linnea Johnson, who recently completed a three-year run in the lead role of Donna in Mamma Mia! at Mandalay Bay. "Now the timing couldn't be more perfect." She was also play Emilia, the abbess, in The Comedy of Errors.

Carol's husband, Don Burroughs (also from the cast of Mamma Mia!), will appear this season as Amiens and Hymen in As You Like It, as well.

Dancin' Feet

Great dancing. Great music. Comedy and romance!

M&M American Dance Theatre's DANCIN' FEET, a romantic musical comedy, tells the story of Dancinmannio & Twinkletoenia, two showbiz muses who are banished from Mount Olympus and sent to the planet Earth because they are voted off the reality TV competition show Dancing with the Gods. In order to get their immortality back, the two muses have to bring joy and inspiration to two mortals on Earth.

To a rousing, jazzy score of some of the greats of the American songbook such as "They Can't Take That Away from Me," "Night and Day," "Mona Lisa," and "Let Yourself Go" with new musical arrangements by Keith Thompson (Musical Director of Jersey Boys) and Broadway legend Peter Howard (Chicago, Raiders of the Lost Ark), their quest to inspire others unexpectedly teaches them something very important about joy, inspiration, and love.
